A SkillBridge Success Story: U.S. Army Captain Michael Humphrise

Data Machines Corp. is a proud sponsor of the SkillBridge program, which is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service.

Recently separated US Army Captain Michael Humphrise worked with DMC this summer. During his time here, he successfully applied software development skills to automation tools that DMC builds and maintains on behalf of some of our most valued customers.

Over the past six weeks, I have had the pleasure of working at DMC, a company working to provide rapid solutions to unpredictable changes through data-driven decision making, as an intern through the Department of Defense's Career SkillBridge Program. During my time at DMC, I was given the opportunity to get hands-on experience in code development and automated artificial intelligence.

I worked with popular program APIs, including Microsoft, Google, and Slack and was able to further hone my software developing skills in Python, SQL, HTML, and CSS. I also had the privilege of learning how to install and implement racking servers, leading to a better understanding of all the development and engineering that goes on behind cloud architectures.

Overall, this experience allowed me the opportunity to get reintroduced into the private-sector of Data Science and lay a foundation for success as I transition out of the Army in the coming weeks. I cannot thank the Data Machines Corporation team enough for this invaluable experience.

Thank you to Capt. Humphrise, we wish you the best of luck as you transition into the civilian world!
